Responsive School Built Environments

Presentation on Responsive School Built Environments at the International Forum of Educational Infrastructure co-organised by the Mexico UNESCO Office and the National Institute for Education Infrastructure in Mexico [INIFED]. The event took place on 12-13 June 2017, in Mexico City.

INIFED and the UNESCO Office in Mexico organised the Forum in order to address newest trends on education infrastructure and its impact on achieving Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals. INIFED aims to assess the progress and results of the programme “Escuelas al Cien” which intends to reach 33,000
schools, almost 6 million students in a period of three years, with an investment of 2.6 billion dollars. The Forum aimed to develop indicators to review the programme. My presentation was on work done in Africa on schools and covered:

How can schools be responsive to:

  • Learner’s needs and motivation
  • Local conditions
  • Diversity of learners
